The Methow Valley Nordic Ski Education Foundation will host a free “Olympic and Paralympic Night” celebration, with personal appearances by the Methow Valley’s 2022 Olympians — Novie McCabe and Erin Martin — on Thursday, May 5, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Winthrop Barn. Presentations, Q&A, films and autograph signing will be included.
The gathering, open to the public, will also serve as the annual meeting of the foundation. For more information and to RSVP, visit https://methowvalleynordic.com/events/olympic-and-paralympic-night.
Martin skied in two events in the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Games. She is part-time Methow Valley and Seattle resident who regularly can be found training and sit-skiing on the community’s roads and trails.
McCabe — a Liberty Bell High School graduate, longtime Methow Valley Nordic Team competitor, veteran of the international circuit in her teenage years, and currently a University of Utah student — finished in 18th place in the 30-kilometer Nordic event at the Winter Olympics Games in Beijing. It was the third event for McCabe, skiing in her first Olympics at the age of 20.
