Dot Lane Olson

March 23, 2022 by Methow Valley News

Dot Lane Olson passed away gracefully in her sleep at home on March 13, 2022. She was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Tacoma, Washington, lived a short time in Spokane, then back to Tacoma until 2020, when she moved to Winthrop to receive care at Jamie’s Place, and be near her granddaughter Patty Christensen.

She loved flowers, cats and dogs, swimming, baseball, crossword puzzles, reading and Jeopardy! She was a welder during the war down at the Tacoma Docks, where she met her husband of 50-plus years, Forrest Olson.

She had three children: Dave (Kerry) in Montana, Doug (Kris) in Spokane, and Sue in Tacoma, and her “other daughter” Cherita (Bruce) in Puyallup. Grandchildren are Greg, Patty, Kristy, Evin and Dana. Great-grandchildren are Keelan, Bailey, Kailee and Payton.

Recently when asked if she needed anything, her answer was, “Just a hug and a kind word.” She was very much loved.
