Erin Martin prepares for trip
Erin Martin, 35, of Seattle and the Methow Valley, has been named to the 2022 Paralympic Nordic Ski team, and will compete as a sit-skier in the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Games, slated for March 5-18 in China.
Martin splits her time between her home in the Crown Hill area of northwest Seattle and Winthrop, where she trains with local coach Betsy Devin-Smith and the Methow Valley Nordic Ski Education Foundation.
Martin learned of her nomination late Monday afternoon while still in the Methow after participating in this weekend’s Race of the Methow. The Methow Valley News caught up with her at Devin-Smith’s on Monday evening.
“I’m excited to race against some amazing athletes,” said Martin. “Two women on the U.S. team, Kendall Gretsch and Oksana Masters, are incredible athletes and very strong competitors on the World Cup circuit.”
Martin plans to return home to Seattle for about a week, then back to Winthrop to train for another week before heading off to a U.S. Team Camp, and then on to Beijing toward the end of this month.
