Liberty Bell High School hosted its annual Knowledge Bowl tournament Monday (Jan. 24), with its first team taking second place overall.

Teams participating included Manson, Okanogan, Pateros, Omak, Liberty Bell and Tonasket. All of the schools brought two teams, except Tonasket, which brought one.

The tournament consisted of three rounds of 50 questions with three teams competing against each other in classrooms in each round.

Liberty Bell’s first team, captained by Alex Eslava with Per Dillingham, Ken Hussey and Sophia Newton, finished with 39 points and second place. They were edged for first by Manson, with 41 points. Okanogan and Tonasket tied for third with 30 points.

Liberty Bell‘s second team was made up of Captain Angel Arellano and team members Rocco Wildman, Connor Herlihy and Gannet Fisher. The second squad finished in fifth place overall with a total of 27 points.

This was the school’s second match of the season. Next week, the Mountain Lions plan to travel to Omak to continue the season.
