Twispmas, 2021
’Twas the days nearing Twispmas
And all through the night
The townsfolk were fretting
A new Omicron fight
Families reunited after many a year
Are now swabbing noses amidst this new fear
Dozens traveled west to avoid the deep freeze
But hopes of the Kraken were dashed by the disease
The sky was aglow the with a silvery moon
And skiers awaited the Loup open soon
Rumors ran wild of what would soon be
A valley with only one dentist, the other a retiree.
The people of Winthrop with their teeth left in a bind
Hoped a new dentist this valley would soon find.
Nordic dashers in tights sped through trail
As last-minute packages arrived in the mail.
Donated gifts and food drives galore
Generosity from the valley couldn’t be more.
Neighbors helping Neighbors came out with a bang
As LED lights twinkled and carolers sang
No Santa breakfast the Grange would yet host
Yet, the children of Twispmas know this the most.
The spirit of Christmas can’t be stolen from a bug
Because it’s captured each day in warm loving hug.
Masks will be worn for when we must sneeze
And Twispmas will come despite the disease.
