Community Briefs: Christmas bazaar, auditions, Conservancy

No Christmas Bazaar at Community Center

Once again, the annual Christmas Bazaars at the Methow Valley Community Center have been canceled because of COVID concerns. Plans are to return to the usual format of two bazaars in 2022.

‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ auditions

The Merc Playhouse will hold auditions in December to fill out the cast of The Tom Zbyszewski Children’s Theater production of “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” now scheduled to open in March 2022. About half-a-dozen roles are available.

Auditions will be on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. at the theater and are open to kids 8 and older. No previous experience is necessary.

All about Bear Fight

Tom and Carol McCord will take about the founding and operation of the Bear Fight Institute, including how their backgrounds led to starting the organization, in a free online presentation by Methow At Home on Tuesday (Nov. 30) from 9-10 a.m. Register at methowathome.org.

Conservancy hosts ‘Four Thoughts’

The Methow Conservancy will host its third annual “Four Thoughts” event free via the Zoom platform on Dec. 7 from 7-8 p.m. Four members of the Methow Valley community will share their reflections on what the valley means to them. To get the Zoom link, email events@methowconservancy.org.

Make some scones

Methow At Home presents local caterer Stew Dietz in a free Zoom presentation on how to make scones with toasted pecans and crystallized ginger on Dec. 2 from 10-11 a.m. Register at methowathome.org.

Economic Alliance workshops

The Economic Alliance’s Small Business Resource & Technology Center is offering a series of free online workshops in November.
