Give Methow, the annual fundraising campaign of the Community Foundation of North Central Washington, raised a record $654,375 for 38 nonprofits in the valley last month.
Donors threw their support behind a wide variety of organizations, including Friends of the Twisp Pool, the Methow Beaver Project, The Cove, and the biochar nonprofit C6 Forest to Farm.
Total amounts raised ranged from $3,346.14 for the valley’s American Legion Post to $43,495.09 for the Methow Conservancy.
Education got a nearly $70,000 boost with contributions to the Methow Valley Education Foundation, Northwest Outward Bound School, Little Star Montessori School and the Public School Funding Alliance. Music and the arts took in $55,000 through donations to The Merc Playhouse, Cascadia Music, Methow Arts Alliance, the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival, and The Confluence: Art in Twisp.
Organizations that support community members also raised money in the campaign, including Jamie’s Place, Room One, and the Twisp Grange. Donors supported recycling, fire prevention and conservation.
Some groups asked for money for a specific project. Aero Methow Rescue Service raised money for a powered stretcher-loading system for each ambulance that will increase safety for patients and first responders. The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance sought contributions for a recovery fund to rehabilitate trails affected by wildfire. Friends of the Winthrop Public Library raised money to outfit the Children’s Nest in the new library.
Through Funday Monday, every person who made a donation on a Monday was entered into a drawing to win $500 to donate any way they choose.
The last Funday Monday took in 848 donations, totaling nearly $104,000.
Give Methow was started in 2015. “Since then, over $1.7 million has been disbursed to charitable causes in the Methow Valley, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of those who care so deeply about the Methow,” community foundation Executive Director Beth Stipe said.
