Okanogan County is holding a public hearing on a six-month moratorium on new cannabis farms and the expansion of existing farms.
The moratorium, in effect until Feb. 24, 2022, is intended to allow the county to review its current regulations, including the number of grows that can be located on a single parcel.
The county commission imposed the moratorium in September in part over concerns that the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board issues cannabis operations for an address without verifying with the county whether cannabis farms are permitted in that zone.
The public hearing on the moratorium, ordinance 2021-9, is Monday (Oct. 18) at 2:30 p.m. The hearing will be held remotely – go to www.okanogancounty.org/government/planning/index for log-in information. For more information, contact the Planning Department at (509) 422-7160.
