A story in the Oct. 6 issue said that the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) had lifted its statewide ban on outdoor burning. Although DNR did lift a blanket statewide order, local restrictions remain in effect. In the Methow Valley and Okanogan County, burning piles of vegetation on private land is still not allowed because of high wildfire risk.
