Family Health Centers, which has a clinic in Twisp and other locations in Okanogan County, announced this week that it had received a $997,605 grant to hire community health workers tasked with building confidence in COVID-19 vaccines.
The grant is from the American Rescue Plan Housing and Human Services and U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration’s Community-Based Workforce Grant.
Family Health Centers plans to use the money to hire 12 community health workers (CHW).
“These trusted voices will work at local schools, community events, and with FHC’s medical and dental mobile units within the various communities in Okanogan County they serve,” according to FHC. “The CHWs will share information about vaccines, build vaccine confidence, and address barriers to vaccination.”
