A portion of Highway 20 west of Winthrop that has been closed due to the Cedar Creek Fire since the middle of last month reopened early this week, under restrictions.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) on Tuesday (Aug. 10), the highway between mileposts 147 and 171 will be open with a reduced speed limit of 35 miles per hour. Firefighting crews continue to be present along the roadway.
Travelers should expect longer than usual travel times, WSDOT said. Motorists are advised not to attempt passing other vehicles or to pull over on the side of the road within the reduced speed zone. Check the WSDOT website, www.wsdot.com, for current travel information.
