‘Summer Jam’ coming
Save the date: TwispWorks is planning a “Methow Summer Jam” to be staged at the Pavilion on Sept. 4. The free event will be from 7 – 9:30 p.m. The lineup hasn’t been determined yet, but will feature local musical talent, according to TwispWorks. Stay tuned for more information.
Art Walk needs artists
TwispWorks, Methow Arts, the Twisp Chamber of Commerce, Cascadia and Confluence Gallery & Art Center are partnering to present the Twisp Fall Art Walk and Studio Tour on Sept. 25 from 1 – 5 p.m.
The organizers are reaching out to local artists to participate.
“We are looking for artists and makers who have a booth they would like to set up, or artists who want to display their work in other artists’ studios,” Confluence Executive Director Kaileah Akker said in a press release. “Artists with booths will be setting up in the plaza at TwispWorks or between Second and Third avenues on Glover Street.”
Artists can participate at no charge.
For information about participating, contact Akker at kaileah@confluencegallery.org or call 997‑2787. The registration deadline is Sept. 4.
Merc’s ‘CoronAnthology’ production
The Merc Playhouse will stage its first live production in nearly two years when it presents “CoronAnthology: The year we held our breath,” on Oct. 14 – 17. The production will, in effect, be authored by valley residents and directed by Phil Quevillon.
The Merc is seeking personal stories about coping with the pandemic. Written submissions, sound recordings or video recordings will be accepted, from all ages and backgrounds. Submissions must be less than 5 minutes in length. Submit your writing, video, or sound recording via email by Aug. 30 to hoochamungus@gmail.com. In-person submissions will also be considered on Aug. 11 and Aug. 25 at the Yourspace building on the TwispWorks campus, from 6 – 8 p.m.
Submissions will be curated, directed and then presented in a multi-media Reader’s Theater performance the weekend of Oct. 14 – 17. Rehearsals and one-on-one editing with the director will take place in September. Full cast technical rehearsals will be Oct. 9 and 10.
