Pickleball returns to the Winthrop Rink this summer after a year off due to COVID precautions.
The Winthrop Rink, whose summer schedule had originally been expected to end after July 4, has extended its operations through July 31, General Manager Steve Bondi said.
Bondi said a project to replace the rink’s dasher boards had been scheduled to start the week of July 5, but the contractor indicated that work would not start until August, so the rink can remain open for roller skating and pickleball.
The rink was awarded $141,648 by the state Recreation and Conservation Office to replace the perimeter dasher boards and safety glass at the facility.
