Cove Classic golf tournament returns
The 18th Annual Cove Classic golf tournament is set for Saturday, July 10, this year at Windhaven on West Chewuch Road north of Winthrop.
The nine-hole tournament features a scramble format, four players to a team, and serves as a major yearly fundraiser for the programs of The Cove, including the Manger Mall, Neighbors Helping Neighbors Holiday Meal Baskets, Aid and Assistance Fund, the Friday Food nutritional backpack program for school kids, and the Methow Valley Food Bank.
The tournament will again include prizes for closest-to-the-pin competition on hole No. 5 and longest drive for men and women on hole No. 7. Hole No. 1 features the traditional $10,000 hole-in-one prize.
The first-place team will have its team name etched on the perennial trophy and there will be prizes for teams that finish first, second and third. As well, a bratwurst and burger lunch is on the menu for golfers, provided by The Cove, that includes potato salad, soft beverages and water, and a dessert.
Up to 60 players, split into 15 four-person teams, are welcome to participate in the tournament. The entry fee is $100 per person or $300 per team. Cove staff will assign single players to teams as entries are received. Entry applications are available through The Cove and are due by noon Tuesday (July 6). Contact The Cove at 997‑0227 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org for entry forms and more information.
