The annual Soaring the Methow glider event, organized by the Seattle Glider Council (which also calls them sailplanes), drew enthusiasts from around the region. The event took place from June 20-27, with tow planes taking gliders aloft from Methow Valley State Airport between Twisp and Winthrop, and from the Twisp Municipal Airport. The gathering of silent aircraft resumed after being canceled in 2020. Seattle Glider Council materials describe the Methow as “possibly the best soaring venue in our state.”
