People who want locally grown and crafted food — meat, veggies, milk and tea — have a new option to order online for weekly pick-ups at Methow Valley FoodShed in Winthrop.
The FoodShed was started by lamb producer BCS Livestock. They’ve partnered with Lightning River Ranch for beef, Nettle Grove Farm for vegetables, Wild Plum Farm for eggs, Doubletree Farm for milk, and Methow Valley Tea.
Shoppers can expect a varying selection including steaks and ground beef, rack of lamb, lettuce and Italian chard, milk, eggs and herbal teas. BCS is also offering hats and yarn made from wool from their sheep.
The FoodShed may add other local producers to increase variety, BCS co-owner Casey Smith said. “The main goal is to make local food more easily accessible to consumers and to have a way for local producers to sell,” he said.
Customers order and pay online Thursday through Sunday and pick up their pre-packaged order Tuesday afternoon between 5 and 5:30 p.m. at the red shed behind the Winthrop Veterinary Clinic.
