A scene from the 2019 Fourth of July parade in Twisp. The parade wasn’t held in 2020
Twisp chamber seeks participants
Whether you intend to travel on foot, horseback, bike, float, car or truck, anyone who wants to take part in the revived Twisp Fourth of July parade is welcome to sign up.
The parade was canceled in 2020 because of COVID-related concerns, but is back this year starting at the usual time: 11 a.m. from the TwispWorks campus, then proceeding north on Glover Street through the heart of downtown. This year, the parade route is extended: it turns right (east) on Twisp Avenue until it reaches Lincoln Street, where it makes another right (south) turn and proceeds back to TwispWorks.
“Anyone and everyone is welcome to be a part of the Twisp Parade,” the sponsoring Twisp Chamber of Commerce advised in its promotional materials. “Show off your business, organization, prize horse, classic car, musical talent, dance moves, circus skills, or any other form of patriotic entertainment that spectators would love to see.”
Also expect the usual tossing of candy to spectators, and a drenching from the Okanogan County Fire District 6 trucks.
The parade is being coordinated by the chamber, which is making entry forms available at http://twispwa.com/fourth-of-july-parade-application-form. Participation is free and open to all ages. Application forms can be dropped off at the Twisp Visitor Information Center in the Methow Valley Community Center, or can be mailed to the Twisp Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 686, Twisp, WA 98856.
Parade staging starts at 10 a.m. Horse riders will meet in the lot behind Hank’s Harvest Foods, and will proceed to TwispWorks at about 10:45 a.m. to join the other entrants. Pedestrians, bikes and cars will meet at the TwispWorks parking lot. Floats, boats and trucks will line up on Lincoln Street, just north of TwispWorks.
Event sponsors are the chamber of commerce, 509 Automotive Repair, Cascade Concrete, Hank’s Harvest Foods, Methow Arts Alliance, Methow Valley Goods, Room One, Twisp House of Cannabis, TTT Roofing, Town of Twisp and VIP Cascades Agency. Support is provided in part with Town of Twisp and Okanogan County Lodging Taxes.
