Bear Creek Golf Course begins a weekly Monday and Friday Scramble event on June 14 that is open to the public, regardless of experience or ability.
The events are recreational in nature and intended as a social mixer, featuring randomly drawn four-person teams. Each individual will need to have their own set of golf clubs, and are responsible for greens fees.
The $5-per-person entry fee covers the cost of prizes awarded for the winning team and individual winner of “closest to the pin” tee shot on one of the par three holes. While the Monday and Friday afternoon events are being sponsored and hosted by the Bear Creek Men’s Club, they are open to the public, according to club president Kevin McBride. “This will allow men and women who don’t golf often to join us … My goal is to increase the number of golfers, and to help the new managers be successful this year.”
There will also be an informal post-game social hour, with no-host food and beverage services available until 6 p.m. Fridays feature the B&S Barbeque menu. Reservations are not required, but are encouraged. The cost of the barbeque is $20 per person.
Sign up at the Bear Creek clubhouse. Registrations for Monday should be completed on the previous Saturday, and by Wednesday for the Friday events. Call 996-2284 for reservations.
