Donna Marie Cotner

April 7, 2021 by Methow Valley News

Donna Cotner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away unexpectedly at Central Washington Hospital on March 22, 2021 at the age of 60.

Donna lived life large. Her love of life, family and friends was special. All that knew her knew her beautiful smile and intoxicating laugh. She lived to see people happy whether that be family, friends or adopted family, she loved them all. The past several years Donna cooked for the local senior meal programs, this was her special place taking care of and talking to her seniors. She always made sure they were happy and had what they needed. This was the happiest and saddest part of her life. Known as Mom, Meme or Auntie Donna, you knew she would be there with love and baked goodies for the young and old. Donna loved her family, friends, animals, music, flowers and many sports.

Donna was born in Norfolk, England, on Aug. 23, 1960, to Richard and Barbara Surface. After returning to the states, they lived in the Moses Lake and Wenatchee areas. After marrying the love of her life, Dave Cotner, in 1983, they settled, worked and raised their family in the Winthrop area.

Donna is survived by her husband, Dave, children Olivia, David, Josh (Kelsey) and Allison, grandchildren Gage, Bailey (Sammie), Millie, Piper, Rowdy and Finley, great-grandchildren Bentlee and Ellison, a very special Aunt Lyda along with three sisters and three brothers among many more family and friends. She now rests peacefully with her loved ones who passed before her including her parents and infant granddaughter Kerris.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

When it is safe for family and friends to gather, we will hold a public celebration of her special life. All will be welcome.
