Twisp Police Chief Paul Budrow and his wife, Aimee, have put their Methow Valley home on the market, but that doesn’t mean the chief is going anywhere soon, Budrow said in an interview this week.
Facebook postings about a potential move by the Budrows generated a considerable buzz in the community the past few days.
Budrow said the home and property, which he characterized as “at the high end of the market,” are listed in anticipation of a possible move to the Midwest. If the house does sell, he said, the Budrows plan to relocate to Red Oak, Iowa, to be closer to other family members, and also closer to Budrow’s parents in Massachusetts.
Budrow, who has been Twisp’s chief for 10 years, said he is not dissatisfied in Twisp.
“I love the town, I love the valley,” he said.
However, the chief said that he has become increasingly frustrated with “our ability to do law enforcement” in Washington state, and he is likely to retire from policing if the family moves to Iowa.
Before taking the job in Twisp, Budrow was the chief of police for the Upper Skagit Tribe. He previously worked for the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, and also was a consultant on police procedures.
