Liberty Bell High School senior Alex Tareski once again shot past the field and skied away with the overall title in the annual Sun of a Gun biathlon event at Liberty Bell’s Sean McCabe Nordic Ski Course on Sunday (Feb. 7).
Tareski, recently returned from a regional biathlon meet at Soldier’s Hollow, Utah, will be headed for the Junior National Biathlon Championships at West Yellowstone, Idaho in late March.
Sawyer DeSalvo edged out teammate Wylie Smith for the overall win in the 4-kilometer biathlon in the junior Development class by less than a second.
Scott Waichler took the Men’s Master division, Richard McGuire and Sabine Arnold were the men’s and women’s winners of the 7.5K race.
Nine-year-old Thorsen Yahares was the fastest of the combined youth and adult Novices, with an elapsed time of 13:41.6 .
