Jazz Trio concert on Valentine’s Day

KTRT/The Root (FM 97.5) Twisp will present a Valentine’s Day Jazz Radio Concert with the Westendorf Jazz Trio, starting at 6 p.m.

Trio members – Lynette Westendorf on keyboard, Howie Johnson on bass and Kirk Schumacher on drums – usually host a community jam session in mid-January, but that event has been modified because of COVID considerations.

Instead, the three musicians have been rehearsing and recording in the Signal Hill Studios for the past few weeks to present a radio concert for the community. The short set will include five original songs and two of the trio’s favorite standards.

“All recording has been safely conducted with social distancing, but the music is full of warm hugs from the musicians to all of their faithful friends,” Westendorf said in a press release.
