U.S. Ski & Snowboard has named two Methow Valley athletes to the U.S. team that will compete in the 2021 FIS Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Championships in Vuokatti, Finland, in early February.
Novie McCabe, a 2020 Liberty Bell High School graduate now attending the University of Utah, was one of six skiers named to the women’s Junior World Championships team. Walker Hall, also a 2020 Liberty Bell graduate, was named as an alternate for the men’s Junior World Championships team.
According to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard website, McCabe is considered among contenders for a medal. She and Hall both competed for the Methow Valley Nordic Team.

At last year’s World Junior Championships in Oberwiesenthal, Germany, where she was part of the U.S. Nordic skiing team, McCabe, placed 9th in the 15-kilometer freestyle mass start race. Skiing the anchor leg, McCabe also was part of the U.S. relay team that took second place in the 4x-3.3K relay.
Hall won the U18 men’s 1.3K freestyle sprint at last year’s U.S. Junior Nationals competition in Truckee, California.
