Enloe Dam is about to undergo a safety repair and maintenance project that could disturb almost 9 acres of soil, with the potential for downstream impacts on the Similkameen River and an unnamed tributary. The work is part of the dewatering safety inspection for the dam, which is owned by the Okanogan County Public Utility District (PUD).
The PUD has applied for a permit from the state Department of Ecology for the work. People can comment on the application through Feb. 30.
Ecology reviews public comments and considers whether potential discharges from any project would cause a measurable change in water quality, and, if so, whether the project is necessary and in the overriding public interest.
