Methow Recycles has instituted a membership plan for household recyclers, allowing the facility’s users to prepay an annual fee and drop off items as often as they like.
Annual membership fees are $60 for an individual, $115 for a couple, $220 for a family and $2,000 for a lifetime household membership, Methow Recycles said in a press release.
Members will receive a membership card, a sticker for their vehicle and a coupon for one free Blue Bag, as well as a members-only newsletter and exclusive events. There will be no limit on the number of visits members can make.
Memberships for the remainder of 2020 will be pro-rated, and can be paid in a lump sum or set up for monthly payments. If membership fees are paid on a monthly basis, the membership will automatically renew in January.
Methow Recycles Executive Director Betsy Cushman said non-members will still be able to make drop-offs under the existing fee structure of $5 for car or $10 for a truckload of household recyclables.
“Pay-as-you-go is still an option,” Cushman said in an email. “We set this [membership system] up as a way to streamline the process for those who’d like to prepay.”
Methow Recycles also offers business and commercial monthly rates ranging from $30 to $55.
Household recycling program members can also sign up for a membership in the Take It or Leave It program, for a fee of $15 to $90 depending on intended usage.
The usual one-time fee for dropping items off at Take It or Leave It is $5 for 100 pounds. On Sept. 10, 12, 17 and 19, the fee will be waived. Everything in the Take It or Leave It tent is free for the taking.
Methow recycles is open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for household drop-offs, and on Wednesdays and Fridays for business and commercial accounts by appointment only. Take It or Leave It hours are the same as household drop-off hours.
