Deborah Winifred Hart passed on Sunday, June 14, at 10:42 p.m. in her beautiful home on the Umpqua River in Reedsport, Oregon. Present at her passing were her husband, Bob, and son Brandon Hart. Her last words spoken were “I’m ready now,” which shocked and bewildered her husband Bob. Debbie had been a professional secretary, bookkeeper, real estate agent, restaurateur and night club owner. She especially loved her boys at the District 7 Fire Department.
After moving from Irvine, California, to Snohomish, Washington, to be with her wonderful family of uncles, aunts and cousins, she met father and son Bob and Brandon Hart, two struggling young men. No more cork sniffing for her. Now she lived and played on a 12-acre farm. She had a huge garden, raised pigs, calves, hunted deer, fished, could line dance with the best of them, and was helpful as a football coach and cheerleader. She loved double rainbows and a full moon over the Skykomish River.
Debbie and Bob were very lucky to build a house together in eastern Washington in the town of Twisp on 11 acres. They agreed that the Methow Valley was their all-time favorite community. They were very saddened to sell their house because of health reasons. She loved the “Valley.”
Debbie’s’ parents, Walt and Dorothy Smith, preceded her in passing. Her brother Walt Smith Jr. and her wonderful sister-in-law Janet Smith and kids lived in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She loved her family in Snohomish, Washington, and was very grateful for their love and support.
Debbie was a rare and precious soul for those who have touched her. She was humble, very generous and took care of the ones she loved. She spent one-and-a-half years struggling with lung cancer. She was grateful to the doctors and nurses who struggled to save her. She looked to her husband to save her “one more time” but he couldn’t.
Debbie’s wishes are being followed: Cremation, obituary (three) towns, celebration of life (three) towns.
