Within only a handful of ballots left to count, Three Rivers Hospital’s request for a one-year excess property tax levy is being approved, according to results from the Okanogan County Auditor’s Office.
Through Friday’s vote count, the levy proposition was supported by 2,478 yes votes (72%) and opposed by 950 no votes (28%). Public Hospital District 1, which includes the Methow Valley and parts of Okanogan and Douglas counties, is served by the hospital in Brewster.
Three Rivers Hospital asked voters to approve a one-time levy of about $750,000. With approval, the rate per $1,000 of assessed property value would be about 33 cents, to be collected in 2021. The funds would cover some of the hospital’s operational costs, particularly the emergency room, the release said.
The auditor’s office said about 50 ballots remain to be counted. Updated results were expected Wednesday (May 6).
