Edelweiss resident Jessica Kelley recently rode her bike up Highway 20 to just beyond the hairpin turn below Washington Pass. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has resumed clearing the highway after an earlier halt to the work. WSDOT said the main reason for clearing the highway is so that it will be available for emergencies. The highway “is more than a scenic drive as it provides valuable freight access, and is vital as an alternative emergency route in case of natural disaster,” WSDOT said in a press release. Clearing is expected to take about two more weeks, WSDOT said.
