Trail’s End Bookstore has a new ownership structure. Longtime store manager Abiline Hagee is now a part-owner along with Christine Janikowski.
Janikowski and her former husband, Patrick, purchased the bookstore business in February 2013. Christine Janikowski eventually bought Patrick’s share of the business, she said, and subsequently brought Hagee into a business partnership earlier this year.
Janikowski said she will still be involved in the bookstore’s operation but that Hagee “will continue to be the face of the store.” Hagee currently is president of the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce.
Janikowski said that Trail’s End will continue to emphasize its book offerings along with a selection of distinct gifts. The bookstore moved to its current location at the former White Buck Trading Company building on Riverside Avenue in 2016, more than doubling its space over the previous location in what is now Sixknot Taphouse.
Trail’s End has a long history in Winthrop. Previously, it was in what is now the Nordic Ultratune building. Before that, it was in what is now the Wine Shed in the building next to Nordic Ultratune.
