Methow Valley students enjoyed a field trip to observe the Seattle theater scene.
On Feb. 20, 32 students from the Methow Valley traveled to Seattle for a two-day performing arts field trip sponsored by Methow Arts. Students visited the MoPOP Museum; participated in a theater workshop with staff at the 5th Avenue Theater; and attended the world premiere of the musical “Bliss.”
The students also got a behind-the-scenes tour of the Seattle University Theater department by a current student at SU; visited 12th Avenue Arts, a professional theater space for a roundtable discussion with a director, a sound designer and a performer to learn what it is like to be a working professional in the theater community of Seattle.
One student wrote me the following after the field trip: “I had so much fun and I really appreciated all the amazing opportunities to see theater in the real world. The whole experience allowed me to consider all the choices I have for the future.”
