The Liberty Bell High School girls’ basketball team dropped its game in the semifinals of the CW2B league tournament last week, a tough 60-53 home court loss to Brewster, but play Lake Roosevelt for third place this week and will continue to districts no matter the outcome of that game.
The Lady Lions faced Lake Roosevelt on Tuesday (Feb. 18) at Chelan for third and fourth places in the league tournament. Liberty Bell defeated Lake Roosevelt twice during regular-season play. Brewster faced Waterville-Mansfield for the league championship on Tuesday as well. All four teams will advance to districts at Quincy on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 21-22).
Liberty Bell and Brewster had split their regular season games. By finishing second in the league, the Lady Lions earned a first-round bye. Brewster beat Bridgeport to advance to the semi-finals at Liberty Bell last Saturday (Feb. 15).
Sophomore Jadyn Mitchell led the Lady Lions’ scoring with 21 points and made it a double-double with 11 rebounds. Junior Sammy Curtis added 10 points. Sophomore Caitlyn Cooley pulled down 8 rebounds, and senior Hannah Bakke had 7 boards.
Liberty Bell’s season record stood at 17-4 before Tuesday’s game.
