Property owners 5 miles south of Twisp are proposing to change the configuration and zoning of their property so that they can use an existing residence as a nightly rental. Richard and Linda Davis would divide the 10-acre property to create a 1.51-acre parcel that includes the house and another with 8.49 acres of open space.
The Davis property is on the west side of Highway 153 near Benson Creek. It includes Methow River frontage. The property also has a garage, storage shed and horse stalls.
In the Methow Review District, all nightly rentals must be part of a planned development. If approved, the owners would have to obtain other permits to operate a nightly rental. It would accommodate up to six people, according to the application.
Okanogan County has found the change would not have a significant impact on the environment. People can comment on the environmental review through Feb. 24.
There will be a public hearing on the overall proposal before the county’s hearings examiner, but no date has been set.
