The Liberty Bell High School Knowledge Bowl team competed in two tournaments within the past week, one at home and one at Brewster.
On Jan. 22, Liberty Bell hosted the North Central regional teams: Omak, Okanogan, Brewster, Tonasket and Manson. The tournament was originally scheduled for Jan. 15, but was postponed due to snow.
A total of 14 teams from the six schools competed in three rounds of 50 oral questions. Liberty Bell Team 1 consisted of junior Lindsay Worrell (captain), and sophomores Per Dillingham, Alex Eslava and Sophia Newton. Tonasket took first in the overall competition with 49 points, and Liberty Bell finished second with 37 points, edging Okanogan’s 35 points.
Liberty Bell Team 2 – freshmen Connor Herlihy, Angel Arellano, Rocco Wildman, Madison Strauss and Alex Dufresne – took 14th place.
On Monday (Jan. 27) Liberty Bell traveled to Brewster for the largest tournament held this season. More than 20 were represented from Mansfield, Cascade, Chelan, Waterville, Manson, Omak, Okanogan, Tonasket, Pateros and Brewster.
Liberty Bell 1 – Worrell, Dillingham, Eslava, Dufresne and Newton – took third place behind Cascade and Tonasket. Liberty Bell Team 2 –Herlihy, Arellano, Wildman and Strauss – took 17th place.
