The Methow Valley Biathlon Team traveled to competition in Sovereign Lakes, B.C., last weekend, where they took part in events in all age categories.
On Saturday (Dec. 14) there was a sprint race, which has two shooting stages. Skiing distances were age-appropriate for each category.
Team results:
Novice: Madison Williams (Twisp), 7th place with 9/10 targets hits.
Juveniles: Aidan Sands (Mazama), 4th place with 8/10 targets hit; Josie Bolinger (Mazama), 11th place with 4/10 targets hit.
Senior girls: Bella Fox (Cashmere), 8th place with 7/10 targets hit.
Masters men 50: Scott Waichler (Winthrop), 2nd place with 3/10 targets hit; Kris Jensen (Seattle) 6th place with 5/10 targets hit.
On Sunday (Dec. 15), the competition was a pursuit race, where there were three or four shooting stages and finishers started in order of the previous day’s finish results, with a 5-second interval between each.
Team results:
Novice: Madison Williams, 5th place with 14 out of 15 targets hit and a time of 13:36.4.
Juveniles: Aidan Sands, 3rd place with 12/15 targets hit; Josie Bollinger, 11th with 9/15 targets hit.
Senior girls: Bella Fox, 7th place with 12/20 targets hit.
Masters Men 50: Scott Waichler, 2nd place with 12/20 targets hit.
