Two traditional Methow Valley programs are working to make the holidays happier for local residents. Here’s information about how to register and/or donate:
Methow Valley Manger Mall
The Methow Valley Manger Mall offers an opportunity for the primary parent/guardian to shop for gifts specific to their child(ren)’s unique interest. Registrants choose one quality, handmade gift and one very nice gift for each registered child, for $1 per item. Preregistration is required and registration forms are distributed at all the local schools or at The Cove in Twisp during normal food bank hours of 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 5. Manger Mall collects donations of new, unwrapped gifts, with a suggested value of $20 to $25, through Dec. 11. Donations can be dropped off at North Cascades Bank and Mick & Miki’s Red Cedar Bar in Twisp, Winthrop Physical Therapy & Fitness, The Winthrop Store & Gas Station and the Mazama Store. For more information or to register, call Diane at (206) 949-5297, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
We want to ensure that our neighbors can enjoy and share a holiday meal. Just prior to Christmas, holiday food baskets will be packed, with all the fixings, and delivered to those who have registered. People can register for a holiday food basket from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Cove on Dec. 5 and Dec. 12. Food baskets will be delivered on Saturday, Dec. 21, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Donations of nonperishable foods are collected at the local schools, Hank’s Harvest Foods in Twisp, the Methow Valley Thriftway in Winthrop and the Mazama Store, through Dec. 20.
Cash donations for both programs can be made to The Cove by mail at P.O. Box 895, Twisp WA 98856, or through The Cove’s website, www.thecovecares.com. Please specify NHN.
More information on both programs is available by emailing email@example.com or calling 997-0227.
