Cheyenne Fonda, a student in the Running Start program at Wenatchee Valley College in Omak, is working as an intern at the Methow Valley News this fall. Fonda is helping with research and reporting, interviews, writing, and editing. She’s also gaining an overall understanding of the many components that come together each week to publish a newspaper.
Fonda is currently studying chemistry, history and creative writing. She gets ideas for stories from people she meets and experiences while traveling. “Through writing, the ideas often change, creating more sold characters, plot and storyline,” she said.
Fonda particularly enjoys reading nonfiction and looks for stories that are told through a compelling narrative that includes historical characters and events.
Fonda is thinking about focusing on English and literature in college. She’s also interested in photography and psychology.
