After shuttling between five locations in 20 years, owner Devin Barnhart is thrilled that Trimline & Co. Salon now has a permanent spot across from the Hank’s Harvest Foods complex in Twisp. Barnhart and her husband bought the new salon building across from their previous spot next to the Loup Loup Ski Rental Shop.

Grand opening

The salon is holding a grand-opening event on Saturday, Nov. 16. There will be snacks, hot chocolate and cookies, and a chance for people to see the new salon.

But Trimline has an even longer history, spanning three generations in Barnhart’s family. Barnhart remembers hanging out after school at her grandmother’s salon on Glover Street. “I knew I wanted to be a hairdresser since I was a kid. I dreamt about braiding hair,” she said.

Her aunt ran the business for a while before Barnhart took on the name for the salon she opened with Georgia Darwood 16 years ago. She still has customers who used to get their hair done by her grandmother.

Darwood and stylists Erin Bosco and Lori Rodio all made the move across the highway with Barnhart. Raegan Sallee joined three months ago and takes walk-in clients in addition to appointments. They all schedule their own appointments.

“That’s the best part about this business, that no one’s the boss,” Barnhart said. “We all have our own phones, own stations, own products, and keep our own books.”

Barnhart has been a stylist for 23 years, while Sallee is a recent beauty school grad. They trade tips and bounce ideas off each other.

The salon serves men, women and children with everything from haircuts and perms to coloring and foiling to trimming bangs and beards. “A lot of haircut styles repeat themselves,” Devin said. They’ve noticed that bowl cuts and mullets, which were in style in the 1980s, are popular again.

“Hair grows – luckily. That’s job security for us,” Barnhart said.

Trimline is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some stylists schedule later appointments. For more information or an appointment: Devin Barnhart, 997-0345; Erin Bosco, 997-2310; Georgia Darwood, (509) 679-6991; Lori Rodio, 997-0031; Raegan Sallee, (509) 429-0400.
