Will Logging & Construction, the contractors cutting 671 acres in the Virginia Ridge timber sale, have almost completed the second phase project, near Virginia Ridge. This past summer, they logged areas near Wolf Creek.
There are approximately 30 acres left to thin and 60 acres to take to landings and process in the Virginia Ridge area.
Will Logging has begun roadwork for the third and final phase of the forest-thinning and logging project, located 1/2 mile west of the Mazama Community Church. Logging is scheduled to begin near Mazama the week of Oct. 14 and should be completed the following week.
Will Logging is doing the work under a contract with the Washington Department of Natural Resources.
Thus far, loggers have thinned about 225 acres and hauled 400,000 board feet of timber to mills.
