Will Logging & Construction, which is cutting trees on 671 acres on Wolf Creek, Virginia Ridge, and near Mazama, has started hauling logs from the Virginia Ridge area in the second phase of the thinning and forest-health project. So far, they’ve harvested 65 acres in that area.
Will Logging, which is doing the work under a contract with the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR), is preparing roads for the next stage of the sale.
DNR had an agreement with Sun Mountain Lodge not to do any logging that could be seen or heard from the lodge until after Sept. 15. Terms of the sale require all merchantable timber to be removed by mid-November.
DNR staff will be at Sun Mountain Lodge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 1 through Oct. 24 to answer questions about the timber sale.
