July 3, 2019 by Methow Valley News

Matilda (Tillie) Saling of Sedro-Woolley, former resident of the Methow Valley, passed away at the age of 90 on June 17, 2019, after a stroke.

Tillie was born July 1, 1928, to Fred and Mary Demmitt. She grew up on Libby Creek near Carlton, in a log cabin, and attended school in Carlton and Twisp. Tillie was the last of her generation of Demmitts. Her parents, two brothers, Gene and Jack, sister Freda Taylor and two husbands, Chuck Tooke and Walling Saling, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Lueanne Tripp, Olympia, son Allen Saling of Olympia and son Ron Saling (Kathy) of Sedro-Woolley, seven grandkids and numerous great-grandkids. At Tillie’s request, there will be no memorial service.
