Back in the day, did you ever take those fun little quizzes that often found in women’s magazines? You know, the ones that claimed to be able to type you, type your best celebrity match, decode which breed of dog is best for you, or tell you where in the world should you live. If you read Cosmopolitan, the quizzes leaned more towards salacious topics that I will not mention here.
Recently in this online age, quizzes are still quite popular, but are more often found on Facebook or other social media sites. And a word to the wise here, these online quizzes are often run by nefarious Russians seeking to gather intel under the guise of asking you to choose such things as which baby animal do you find cutest, so beware.
I am going to offer you a perfectly safe and family friendly ten question quiz here. Just answer YES or NO.
• Do you live in Mazama?
• Is Mazama an enjoyable place?
• Are you available in the morning of Saturday, May 25?
• Do you like running?
• Are pancakes delicious?
• Are you thinking about ham and eggs? How about now?
• Is watermelon one of the greatest foods ever?
• When you are in Mazama, do you ever admire the pretty little red Mazama Community Club?
• Is your zodiac sign one of the following: Aries, Aquarius, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Pisces, Virgo, Leo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius or Capricorn?
• Are baby hedgehogs adorable?
Now tally up how many times you chose YES.
If you scored 6–10, you definitely better show up to the annual World Famous Mazama Pancake Breakfast (WFMPB) on Saturday, May 25, from 8–11:30 a.m.
A score of 3–5 signifies that you should probably attend the WFMPB in order to work on that low score.
If you scored less than a 3, you are likely an alien, ghost or Bigfoot and you should still attend, because that would be pretty exciting for everyone else if you showed up.
Gay Northup and Nancy Kuta, who are not aliens, ghosts or Bigfoots, are once again chairing this event with help from local volunteers. In addition to the food, there is the Fun Run (1K, 5K and 10K) scheduled through Cascade Endurance. The link to sign up is www.cascadeendurance.com/mazamafunruns. The Pancake Breakfast is included in the race fee. If you don’t want to run, the all-you-can-eat breakfast is $7 and kids under 6 eat for free.
What else can you do at this fun event besides run and eat? There will be several community groups set up with informational tables. A person could also become a member of the Mazama Community Club for a mere $30. It is possible that you are afraid of the status that comes with being a member and you are hoping to stay a little more low-key. Don’t fret, my pet! I became a member last year and my status has remained exactly the same. All that has changed is that I can drive by the Community Club and not feel too guilty about never volunteering. Are you going to attend this fun and world-famous event? YES.
