Winthrop Kiwanis will host its 25th annual Bite of the Methow fundraiser on March 16 at the Winthrop Barn.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from any Kiwanis member, at Windermere Real Estate in Twisp, or at The Tenderfoot in Winthrop; or call 996-3991. Doors open at 3 p.m. and serving begins at 5 p.m.
The event includes a silent auction and live auction, both featuring donated items from local businesses, organizations and individuals.
Bite of the Methow providers this year include Methow Valley Thriftway, Hank’s Harvest Foods, Sun Mountain Lodge, La Fonda Lopez, Old Schoolhouse Brewery, Hog Heaven Barbecue/Lookout Mountain Meat, Bluebird Grain Farms, Twisp Valley Grange, Key Club and Builders Club, TOPS, Kind Grinds, Mazama Store, Woodstone Pizza, Methow Valley Ciderhouse, Paul Budrow and Thomson’s Meats.
The Bite is the Winthrop Kiwanis’ biggest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds benefit a host of local programs and organizations.
This year’s “Fund a Dream” project is “Tools for the Trades,” to provide tools for the Advanced Construction Trades class at Liberty Bell High School.
“The Advanced Construction Trades Class … has acquired a job site trailer to transport tools to a job site, but that’s where their funding ran out,” Kiwanis said in a press release. “The Winthrop Kiwanis Club has offered to fill the trailer with the tools these students need to learn about trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. These skills are in high demand, and this class provides these students with a head start to enter the workforce, or technical school, after graduation.”
