A Winthrop man is being held on $1 million bail in the Snohomish County Jail in connection with a murder in Everett.
Raymond Tannehill, age 28, of Winthrop, was arrested Feb. 19 on suspicion of being the getaway-car driver in the murder of Raul Cuadros, age 19, in a Jack in the Box parking lot early Sunday, Feb. 17, according to City of Everett Police reports.
Three other men were also arrested and are being held without bail. David Randall Wright, age 31, was arrested Feb. 20 on suspicion of being the shooter. Kodi Anderson, age 27, and Christopher Phelps, age 28, are being held without bail for their alleged role in the murder. Brianna Reynolds, age 27, was arrested for allegedly tampering with evidence.
Police were dispatched to the parking lot at 3:43 a.m. after a report that a man had been shot. They attempted life-saving measures but could not save Cuadros, who was shot in the chest, according to police reports.
According to the police reports, Cuadros and Reynolds went to the parking lot to meet Phelps, purportedly to buy drugs. But they actually intended to rob Phelps in retaliation for an armed robbery earlier that week, according to reports.
Anderson told police that Reynolds had lured him to a hotel room a few days earlier, where he was robbed by two men. Phelps suggested Anderson bring Wright to carry out the retaliatory robbery, according to police documents.
Anderson asked Tannehill to drive him to pick up Wright and then go to the Jack in the Box. Tannehill dropped off Anderson and Wright at a nearby gas station and waited down the street while the two went on foot to the Jack in the Box, according to police documents.
When they discovered Phelps wasn’t at the Jack in the Box, Cuadros and Reynolds dropped their robbery plans, according to police documents.
Anderson and Wright allegedly tried to rob Reynolds and Cuadros. Reynolds tried to spray Anderson with pepper spray and, as Anderson was ducking, he heard a shot, and he and Wright fled the scene. They called Tannehill to pick them up, according to police documents.
Tannehill drove Anderson and Wright to a house in Silver Lake where Phelps was waiting. Phelps took their clothes to dispose of them, according to the police documents.
Tannehill allegedly said he knew Anderson and Wright planned to rob Reynolds in retaliation for the robbery the day before. “Tannehill was an integral part of this Robbery turned homicide,” wrote officer Steve Brenneman in his synopsis and probable cause for arrest for murder in the first degree. Tannehill drove the suspects to the location, knowing they planned a robbery, and then drove them away, said Brenneman.
The suspects had their first court hearings in Snohomish County last week, according to Aaron Snell, a public information officer with the Everett Police. Charging documents from the Snohomish County Prosecutor were not available at press time.
The homicide remains an active investigation.
