On Feb. 9, the Fly Dance Company will take the stage in Winthrop.
Methow Arts launches its 2019 season with three shows at the Winthrop Barn in the coming months.
• The Fly Dance Company, described as “The Gentlemen of Hip-Hop,” appear on Feb. 9. The group features male dancers mixing athletic movements, vaudeville antics and comedy bits influence by the Marx Brothers, according to a Methow Arts press release.
The show is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for reserved seats; $10 for ages 5-18; and $16 for ages 19 and older advance purchase ($19 at the door).
“Come with an open mind,” Jorge Casco, executive director of the group, said in the press release. “If you have any stereotypes on what hip hop is, we’re going to shatter all of that. We want to let the audience know that you won’t be offended. You’ll be at the edge of your seat.”

The Seamus Eagan Project with Moira Smiley plays the Barn on March 1.
• The Seamus Egan Project with Moira Smiley, renowned for traditional Irish music, appears on March 1. “From his beginnings as a teen prodigy, to his founding of the Irish-American powerhouse band Solas, to his current project touring with friends and musical guests, Egan has helped define the sound of Irish music today,” according to the Methow Arts release. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for reserved seating; $17 for adults, advance purchase ($19 at the door); and $7 for ages 5-18.
Egan is a master of the Irish flute, tenor banjo, guitar, mandolin and tin whistle, among others. As a composer, he was behind the soundtrack for the award-winning film, “The Brothers McMullen,” and co-wrote Sarah McLachlan’s breakout hit, “Weep Not for the Memories.” Smiley is a multi-talented singer, composer, musician and producer.
• The Hunts, an indie-alternative-folk band comprised of seven brothers and sisters, perform on March 23. Born and raised in the south lands of Chesapeake, Virginia, the siblings grew up in a musical home and fell in love with composing their own music, according to the Methow Arts release.
