Deadline to submit materials for scoping process is Friday
People have until Friday (Jan. 4) to submit ideas the county should consider when looking at the potential environmental impacts of its updated comprehensive plan.
The deadline is for the scoping process, which is how the county collects information about topics to study in its environmental review of the plan. Topics can include everything from the plan’s effects on water quality and quantity or on roads and traffic, to more-abstract things like how projected growth will affect jobs or quality of life.
In addition to listing impacts the county should look at, people can suggest ways to mitigate those impacts. They can also propose alternatives beyond those identified in the plan about the amount of development that’s desirable and where that growth should take place.
The comp plan and related documents are available at www.okanogancounty.org/planning in the first box below the scoping notice for the plan, which starts with “Threshold SEPA Determination.” There is a link for “Draft Comprehensive Plan” and three maps of alternatives.
Send comments to rrobbins@co.okanogan.wa.us. People can also comment on the draft plan.
