Five members of the Liberty Bell High School girls’ soccer team have been named to the first team in All League awards announced this week — including senior midfielder Sally Thornton-White, who was also named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
Accorded first-team honors in addition to Thornton-White were junior goalkeeper Tommie Ochoa, junior defender Ali Palm, senior forward Spencer Hoffner and sophomore forward Josephine Cole.
Thornton-White was also a first team All League choice last year. Palm won second-team honors in 2017. Ochoa follows in the footsteps of her sister Lauren, who was named to the All League first team as goalkeeper last year. In 2017, Tommie Ochoa received an honorable mention as a midfielder.
Named to the 2018 All League second team from Liberty Bell were junior midfielder Maya Sheely and freshman defender Chloe Sprauer. Sophomore midfielder Cymone Van Marter was accorded honorable mention.
Head coach Lincoln Post was named Coach of the Year, repeating that honor from last year.
The Lady Lions also repeated as winners of the Sportsmanship Award.
Liberty Bell went into this weekend’s state playoff game undefeated, having won both the league and District 6 championships.
