The first five homes in the Methow Housing Trust’s Canyon Street Neighborhood in Twisp are taking shape, and will be ready for occupancy by late winter or early spring next year. The homes are being built to fulfill the housing trust’s mission to provide homes that people earning 60 to 100 percent of the area median income can buy.
The Canyon Street development will have a total of 13 two-bedroom and three-bedroom homes, which will be completed in phases over the next two years, said Danica Ready, Methow Housing Trust executive director. Four affordable homes are also under construction in Mazama in a development called the McKinney Ridge Neighborhood. Ready said the Housing Trust has selected applicants to purchase eight of the nine homes now under construction, and is working with applicants for homes that will be built in coming years. A tour of the Canyon Street homes will be offered as part of the Methow Housing Trust’s annual meeting on Nov. 8.
