The Winthrop Kiwanis annual duck race filled the Chewuch and Methow rivers with hundreds of rubber ducks on Labor Day. Volunteers armed with nets, sticks and kayak paddles were on hand to corral the ducks toward the finish line and keep them from continuing downstream. Meanwhile, traffic was backed up from the four-way stop nearly all the way to Arrowleaf Bistro.
