Lake Roosevelt turned the tables on the Liberty Bell High School girls’ tennis team with a 3-1 victory on the Lady Lions’ home court last week. Earlier in the year, Liberty Bell had won on the Raiders’ turf by the same score.
Meanwhile, the Liberty Bell boys won 3-2, the same margin that they defeated Lake Roosevelt by earlier this season.
For the girls, Liberty Bell’s No. 1 singles player, Logan Butler, lost a long, demanding match, 6-7 (7-9 tiebreaker), 5-7. Shelby Vintin lost 3-6, 4-6, and Christina Dominguez also was defeated, 0-6, 0-6. In the only doubles match, Chloe Temple and Ruthann Matteson won, 6-3, 6-2.
The boys swept their singles matches: Isaac Blodgett by 6-1, 6-1; Tyler White by 6-0, 6-0; and Evan Budrow by forfeit. In doubles play, Tim Haley and William Grubb lost, 5-7, 0-6; while Konnor Dorn and Budrow also fell, 1-6, 0-6.
Liberty Bell hosted Tonasket on Tuesday (May 1), stays at home to face Okanogan on Thursday (starting at 4 p.m.), then travels to Tonasket on Tuesday (May 8) for the last regular-season match of the year.
After last week, the girls’ team record was 9-3 for the season, while the boys were 6-6.
