The Liberty Bell High School tennis teams returned from spring break a bit short-handed, but managed victories over Pateros and Entiat.
On April 10, Liberty Bell hosted Pateros for an abbreviated encounter, as there were not enough players available from the girls’ side to compete. The boys team won 3-1. In singles play, Isaac Blodgett won 6-3, 6-2; Tyler White took a hard-fought 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory; and Tim Haley lost his match after taking an early advantage, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6. The doubles team of Evan Budrow and William Grubb won by forfeit.
On April 12, the Mountain Lions visited the Entiat Tigers, and the boys’ and girls’ teams each came home with a victory.
The Liberty Bell girls forfeited both doubles matches, but convincingly swept the singles matches to claim a 3-2 win. Logan Butler was a 6-0, 6-2 victor; Ruthann Matteson won 6-0, 6-0; and Shelby Vintin finished things up with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
The boys won 4-0. Blodgett prevailed 6-2, 6-1; White won by 6-, 6-2; and Haley easily took the third singles match, 6-0, 6-1. Budrow and Grubb again won by forfeit.
Liberty Bell hosted Oroville on Tuesday (April 17). The teams will travel to Cascade on Thursday (April 19) and will be at home against Entiat on Friday (April 20).
